Introversion

What goes on in an introvert's mind? Well, you might think that nothing goes on, simply because you do not see anything!!! This is a common misunderstanding, at least among extroverts. It can be quite easy to overlook the introvert simply because he does not grab our attention right away. So what should we do?

In dealing with introverts, one must remember not to skim the surface. There's always something going on under that boring look of theirs. Just because they do not react on the surface doesn't mean there's not a reaction under it. The key phrase is under the surface. If you dig a little, you'll find that the introvert can be quite an interesting person, if you can get them to talk. :-) However, remember that they won't bring much to the surface on their own. You'll have to do a lot of second guessing before you can really understand them.

So why are we bothering with them in the first place? Do they really want us to dig them up? Maybe. Then again. maybe not. But if you like challenges, go for the introvert!

We are quite challenging, aren't we? :)

Oh yes. :-) We can be VERY confusing.

Everyone seems to put down introverts because it just takes time to get to know the well, and people are just to lazy to make the effort. : (

Exactly!!! People are happy
already and don't think they have any reason to get to know them.

Google apparently didn't like me saying that. They must all be extroverts. :-)

How did google manage to show this disapproval?

Hmm, I am an introverted extrovert! :) Nah, I'm extroverted I suppose, but I do have an introverted sibling or two... and sometimes I am a bit introverted myself, but I tend to regard that as part of the semi-teenage-depression I have. Either that or I am an extrovert who doesn't know how to talk....

Random and rather pointless comment. :P

Aha! I know why it was random and pointless, it wasn't me saying it! :P The comment by Megan was actually a comment by moi, didn't realize I was signed into her account!

Semi-teenage-depression? I've never heard of that before. Then again, maybe I have. Were you the one who was sanguine, or was it Everglade? Anyway, from your writing style, and from the large number of followers to your blog, I would assume you are sanguine (the most extroverted temperament). However, sanguines can have occasional depressive moods.

An extrovert that doesn't know how to talk? How is this possible? I suppose it could be in rare cases. However, I myself am an introvert, but I like to stick my nose on other people's blogs, so you might think I'm an extrovert. But maybe the real extroverts stick their noses in five times as many blogs as I do.

Yeah, I know the picture's pretty crazy! It's my own eye, with a little help from photoshop. : )

I kind of figured. :-)

And, no that wasn't me who voted sanguine, because I don't really know what I am, or if I am even just one of them. : )

Most people have a dominant and a subordinant temperament.

Everglade said...

If you say so... : ) Do the temperaments relate at all to the Meyers-Briggs test?

I took a test that said I am an INFP (introvert, intuitive, feeling and perception) and I pretty much agree with it.

I strongly believe that MB is the four temperaments with a facelift. :-) However, I've heard that it's more focused on personality, whereas the four temperaments are only the roots of our personalities.

I once matched all of the MB types to the temperaments, but I can't remember them all right now. However, at first glance, I would say your answers match that of a melancholic-phlegmatic. But temperaments deal more with your root tendancies as opposed to your learned traits. I hope this isn't confusing. :-)

I'm also an INFP.
I'm rather skeptical about the temperaments. But we've had this conversation before. : )

Meyers-Briggs could be a personality test, but I don't know enough about it to say if it's credible or not. All I know is that the temperaments do NOT tell you everything about your personality. They are only the foundation for your personality.
